About ROXBURY SOCCER CLUB
The Roxbury Soccer Club was established in 1983 with a commitment to fostering the growth and development of young athletes. At Roxbury Soccer Club, our mission is to provide a supportive and enriching environment for youth soccer players of all skill levels.
We believe in the transformative power of sport, using soccer as a vehicle to instill essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Through our programs, we aim to cultivate not only skilled athletes but also well-rounded individuals who are poised for success both on and off the field.
Rec Program
The Roxbury Soccer Club’s recreation program is designed to provide participants the opportunity to learn the game of soccer, the value of good sportsmanship and play with a sense of team, all in a fun and supportive environment.
The program offers options for players from pre-k through high school, regardless of experience or ability. All players play at least 50% of each game. Please note, travel players are not eligible for the recreation program.
Our recreational program has both the fall and spring seasons. The fall season runs from early-September to mid-November and the spring season runs from early-April to mid-June. All teams practice once a week, with a target of 10 games each season. Recreation teams are coached by volunteer parent coaches. Team assignments and schedule will be available a week before the season begins. Cleats and shin guards are required for all players.
Travel
Program
The Roxbury Soccer Club offers a fantastic travel soccer program which has partnered with PDA SCP to offer a more competitive program and requires a greater commitment to the sport. The travel season runs from September through June of the following year, with a break over the winter months (December – March). The season consists of league play in the Fall season (September thru November) and Spring season (April thru June).
Each season of league play consists of 10 games (5 home & 5 away). The travel program requires a commitment for both the Fall and Spring seasons. Teams are formed in specific age groups and compete against teams from other towns. Teams may elect to play in additional competitions that may take place during the season or in the off-season months (Labor day, Columbus Day, and Memorial Day). Sometimes these tournaments sponsored by other towns are in other states and require travel and staying overnight.
Our experience with Roxbury Soccer Club has been nothing short of phenomenal! Our son's confidence has soared since joining the club.

Information
Registration fees for Divisions A, B, C, & D will be $170. In the Fall 2023 season, we had a record-breaking number of players register. We love having as many players on the field and learning the game as possible, but we continue to need parents to volunteer to coach teams so that every kid that wants to play is able to have a team to play on.
For the Spring 2024 season, we will be capping the number of initial registrations for divisions A, B, C and D. That cap is based on estimated number of teams and maximum roster sizes. Each team must have a volunteer coach. Simply put, the more parents that volunteer to coach a team, the more teams we can have, the more players we can have on a team. Registrations for divisions that are already at capacity will be placed on a waitlist. Players on the waitlist will be moved to active registration when space is available. More coaches, more teams, more players on the field.
Note: Players that register for the waitlist will only be charged their registration fee once then move off the waitlist and into active registration.

Who is eligible to play?
The Roxbury Soccer Club fields teams from under-8 (U8) to under-14 (U14) for boys and girls. Our tryouts are open, meaning anybody may attend and compete for a spot on a team. No spots are guaranteed from year to year. Existing players as well as new players must compete for a spot on the new roster. Player rosters are selected by tryout. In the Spring, the Roxbury Soccer Club expands to include High School Players (U15 thru U19).
Why should I consider Travel Soccer?
Travel Soccer provides the opportunity for your child to play at a more competitive level. The Roxbury Soccer Club Travel program consists professional training emphasizing the development of both individual and team skills while emphasizing character, athletic skills and good sportsmanship.
Where are Travel games played?
A majority of the teams within the RSC play in the Elite Development Program (EDP) where others might play in the Morris County Youth Soccer Association (MCYSA). Home games are played at Horseshoe Lake Park. Away games are played in other towns usually within 30 to 60 minutes from Roxbury.
Why a tryout?
The objective of the travel program is to put together the strongest team possible to compete against other towns. Tryouts afford an opportunity for evaluations of all players to determine the strongest players. The top players are invited to play while the others remain eligible to play in recreation.
If my child doesn’t make the team, then what?
If your child doesn’t make the travel team, they are eligible to play in recreation and tryout again the following year.
How many teams / players in age group?
Initially there is one team in each gender in each age group. U8 thru U10 are small sided teams and while 14 players are allowed by the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association, most coaches take between 11 and 12 players as this is a more optimal number. U11 thru U19 are full-sided teams and while 18 players are allowed by the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association most coaches take between15 and 16 players as this is a more optimal number. Second teams can be formed if there are enough players and the executive board approves the second team.
What kind of financial commitment is required?
There are many pieces to the cost of playing travel soccer. Including additional registration fees, uniform costs, the costs of traveling (gas, hotels, and food etc.), training fees, tournament fees, etc. Costs for the following season are being finalized.
What kind of time commitment is required?
Your commitment to the travel team is for one year; August through June of the following year. The fall season is from September through November. Travel teams will generally practice two times during the week with games either on Saturday or Sunday. Players are generally “off” from Thanksgiving until early January. Teams may practice from January to March indoors. This is discretionary although participation is recommended. If players agree, they may also participate in some local indoor one-or two-day tournaments.
If I am interested, what do I do?
Information regarding the try-outs is posted on the RSC website. The try-out release form is also posted and should be completed and brought to the appropriate try-out session.
How do I know what age group should my child try out for?
The age groups and tryout dates and times will be listed on the Roxbury Soccer Club web site. It is important for your child to make their assigned date and time or we can not guarantee place on any team.
How will I know if my child made the team?
After the tryout, scores will be tabulated by the club. You’ll receive a call about a month or so after the tryouts to inform you if your child did or did not make the team. An official offer letter will be emailed to those players that were offered a spot. Parents will have 72 hours to accept the position on the team.
We couldn’t do this without you.
